FaBRAlous Fits is a Black woman-owned shop that has been around for well over two decades! The idea was dreamed up by professional bra fitter Trina Trotman. Trina was always deeply passionate about finding the perfect fit, starting from her teenage years. The only issue? She had a fuller chest and could find no good options that looked great and fit well. As she got a little older, she decided she needed to use her expertise to help people all across the area!
In 2004, she officially launched her business, though it looked quite a bit different at that point. In the beginning, she offered a mobile bra fitting service that would go across the DMV areas, working with women to find their proper sizes. From there, she would help them find the best products, letting them pick from gorgeous options that were so hard to get in full sizes. Obviously, this service was a hit, and in 2018, they launched their brick-and-mortar store. While the commitment to exceptional and personalized service remains the same, they are now able to reach far more customers to ensure no one has to suffer with a bad bra. While they do offer some lingerie and accessories, bras are their specialty! You will be able to shop from a range of colors, cuts, and styles. More than anything, they are going to make sure you leave with an option you won’t mind wearing all day long.
Yes, the fit will be the top of their priority, but they have also worked hard to find the materials that will simply feel good. If you want wires, you can bet they have wires! You can shop for well-made pieces that offer underwire and side support. Not only are you going to get all of the lift, but they only carry the highest-quality product, so you aren’t going to deal with the wire jamming into your boob the second your bra starts to die. I’ve spent a lot of time hyping up their bra-fitting services, so now let’s talk about what you can expect! FaBRAlous Fits fittings are available by appointment only, but they make this easy to book ahead of time. All you have to do is head over to their website and fill out a reservation so they can get you on the schedule. Their bra fittings are available throughout the weekends, and typically, they have a lot of availability, so you don’t have to wait to be seen.
You can expect your appointment to last around 30 minutes. During this time, they will run a series of measurements to ensure you leave with your ideal size. They might ask you what size you are currently wearing, whether or not you deal with any bulging, or if your bra straps leave a mark on your shoulder. From there, they are going to measure both your cup and your band size. Once they have a good idea of your true size, they might have you try on a few bras and assess the fit. This team will not let you leave until you know your true size! They advise you to book visits around twice a year, especially if you have had a change in weight, activity levels, or have experienced a recent pregnancy.
