Boud-what? What is Boudoir Photography
Pronounced “Boo-Dwah” or “Boo-Dwar”, A boudoir photo shoot is a type of photography session that focuses on capturing intimate, romantic, and sensual images of a person in a tasteful and artistic way. It is usually done in a private setting, such as a bedroom or bathroom, and while it traditionally included the woman wearing lingerie, now you can find images featuring a client wearing a variety of clothing choices. The client can choose to wear clothing that makes them feel confident and comfortable in, such as a gown, dress, or other clothing. Boudoir photography has become increasingly popular in recent years, as more people are embracing their own beauty and feeling empowered by their experience. Additionally, it is not just for women! We have seen an increase of clients that include their significant other(s) and more men interested in having a solo boudoir session.
Boudoir photography still has a negative connotation among some people, as some people stereotypically misconstrued the purpose of the session. It is meant for the client to see themselves in a new light as they continue their self-love journey. If someone chooses to share their images from their boudoir session, that is up to the individual.
The goal of a boudoir photo shoot is to create stunningly beautiful images that make you feel beautiful and confident in your own skin. We will typically discuss your desired look and feel before the shoot, and may ask you to bring items that help create your desired mood. This can include items such as jewelry, hair accessories, or even props.
If you want to do a traditional boudoir session with lingerie, let’s do that! Not so much into lingerie and would prefer your favorite pair of jeans and nothing else? Let’s do that too! When you book your session, you will be provided with a guide that will discuss all your wardrobe options. During the shoot, I will direct you on how to pose and will provide guidance on how to express yourself in the photos. We want you to be yourself!
At the end of the session, I’ll show you anywhere from 50-100 images. By the time you come in, you have likely selected a package that includes prints, albums, and/or digital files of your images. We will go over your images together, and then I help you choose the images that will be going home with you
